Who we are
Purpose
To relieve the needs of deaf individuals and BSL signers by promoting deaf culture and fostering a positive deaf lifestyle. This will be achieved through activities that enrich the lives and well-being of deaf people, as determined by the Trustees.
Activities
The charity will provide a range of resources and services, including but not limited to:
- Information and Advocacy – Offering accessible information and advocating for the rights and needs of the deaf community.
- Health and Wellbeing – Supporting activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being, including initiatives in the arts, sports, social interaction, and recreational engagement.
- Education and Training – Facilitating opportunities for learning, personal development, and skill enhancement to empower deaf individuals.
- Employment Support – Assisting deaf people in gaining meaningful employment through training and advocacy.
- Engagement with Arts, Sports, and Heritage – Encouraging participation in cultural, sports, scientific, and technological activities, as well as initiatives intrinsic to deaf culture and heritage, particularly in Wales.
(3) Community Integration
To build connections between the deaf community and local services, organizations, and communities in Bridgend and surrounding areas, fostering inclusion and mutual support.
(4) Scope of Activities
Any additional activities that support, maintain, or improve the physical, mental, or social well-being of deaf individuals will be encouraged, including arts, sports, science, technology, social engagement, and information technology. The Trustees will determine and guide these activities as needed to best serve the community and fulfill the charity’s mission.
